A royalty free application for R4i Common Source Database customers, the R4i Viewer is an intelligent content access tool for operators and maintainers. Data packages are generated from R4i CSDB Server which are in turn “read” by the R4i Viewer.

R4i Binder^TM is an optional module for R4i CSDB Server^TM and is a powerful productivity tool for organizations that require paper publications. R4i Binder is a flexible drag and drop system that allows you to build complete PDF Books that includes cover pages, hyperlinked Table of Contents (TOC) and a hyperlinked Index. R4i Binder accesses ASD S1000D, DITA and other structured content held in the R4i CSDB Server’s database and processes the content using XSL-FO stylesheets.

Binder can utilise FO stylesheets designed for any print standard, from the traditional Chapter/Section style publication, through to the more modular print utilized in S1000D.

Designed to be easy to use, R4i Binder users simply design the layout of their publication by dragging content from the CSDB view onto their layout view. The Book structure can then be saved to the library and a stylesheet applied to produce the PDF publication.

MathML 2.0 has been a W3C Recommendation since Feb 2001. MathML is a low-level specification for describing mathematics in XML. Various MathML tools exist that make this language easy (for mathematicians) to create and edit. The resulting code can be a basis for automatic processing, management and rendering. It also provides a foundation for the inclusion of mathematical expressions in Web pages.

MathML is intended to facilitate the use and re-use of mathematical and scientific content on the Web, and for other applications such as computer algebra systems, print typesetting, and voice synthesis. MathML can be used to encode both the presentation of mathematical notation for high-quality visual display, and mathematical content, for applications where the semantics plays more of a key role such as scientific software or voice synthesis.

Xpress Author for Microsoft® Word is an add-in to Word that lets users easily create XML documents to feed Quark® Dynamic Publishing Solution (DPS), an automated system for producing publications in multiple forms, both print and online. Working hand-in-glove with Microsoft Word, Xpress Author permits users to create content within a familiar, simple and fullfeatured user interface. Allowing users to continue using Word vastly eases the transition from the hand-crafted publishing process of the past to the dynamic publishing process of the future.

The Mekon Forms Framework (MFF) provides a configuration and a centralised JavaScript function library for the creation of dynamic forms in Adobe LiveCycle Designer that support division by, and navigation of, large forms section by section.

The “intelligence” of a dynamic form is controlled by the execution of JavaScript code from field and button events e.g., when a field is initialised or exited, or when a button is clicked. MFF will save development time because most necessary functions that are required for navigation or validation are already supplied.

MFF includes:

• TitlePage Master page – an introductory 1 page section. This is usually a branded opening ‘home’ page for the form that provides basic instructions for completion, summary information about form completion progress, and entry route(s) into the form.
• Main Master page definition including a navigation toolbar and content display area – it is expected that the customer will supply or request their own design for the toolbar graphic once requirements are established for the form. Additional Master page definitions can be added for form sections with unique requirements.
• Menu – OPTIONAL – provides a means to select which sections are required. If all sections are required OR requirements are identified by answers to earlier questions, this section isn’t required.
• Main sections – vary according to customer requirements. The form is divided into logical sections.
• Conclusion page – a branded closing page that provides the respondent with options such as review, printing and form submission.
• Hidden management section – a hidden section that stores the control fields for navigation (BreadCrumb) and validation functions, and the BreadCrumb repeating subform that supports the section by section navigation.

DITA Open Toolkit is a Java-based implementation of the OASIS DITA Technical Committee's specification for DITA DTDs and schemas. The Toolkit, which can be used in the Windows, Linux/UNIX, and Mac OS operating environments, transforms DITA content (maps and topics) into deliverable formats. The Toolkit uses Apache Ant for processing. DITA Open Toolkit publishes to the following environments:

• Key output targets are XHTML, HTML Help, PDF2 (processed using the Idiom plug-in and RenderX XEP), and Eclipse help. 
• Other targets include DocBook, Eclipse content, JavaHelp, PDF, troff, and Word RTF.

eXist is an open source database management system entirely built on XML technology, also called a native XML database. Unlike most relational database management systems, eXist uses XQuery, which is a W3C Recommendation, to manipulate its data.

eXist allows software developers to persist XML data without writing extensive middleware. eXist follows and extends many W3C XML standards such as XQuery. eXist also supports REST interfaces for interfacing with AJAX-type web forms. Applications such as XForms may save their data by using just a few lines of code. The WebDAV interface to eXist allows users to "drag and drop" XML files directly into the eXist database. Because eXist automatically indexes documents using a keyword indexing system it is very easy to create high-performance document search systems with eXist.
