Mekon is pleased to announce the imminent release of Eclipse Bookbuild Version 4. As with previous versions the installation of Eclipse S1000D for FrameMaker is necessary for this application to work.

The main additional features are indicated below.

S1000D Issue 4 has been implemented in this new release. With the implantation of Issue 4 BookBuild can produce hard copy publications from S1000D Issue 1 Change 6 to Issue 4. With some limitations it is possible to mix S1000D Issues in the same publication.

Several Page Sizes: Clients have, over a period of time, indicated their preference for page sizes other than A4. With this release BookBuild can now provide output, subject to suitable printers being available, at A5, A4, A3L, ANSI A, Index card in both single and double column. Where the foldout element has been implemented in the Data Modules BookBuild will automatically produce A3 Landscape pages when A4 pages have been selected, or A4L when A5 pages have been selected or ANSI B when ANSI A pages have been selected.

Automatic generation of several standard pages: Eclipse BookBuild has for some time been able to automatically generate Tables of Contents for the entire publication as well as for Volumes/Sections when they are used as well as at the front of each Chapter. With Version 4 two new features have been added.

  • The generation of a List of Acronymns

  • The generation of an Index.
  • List of abbreviations (AT01)

  • List of terms (AT02)

  • List of symbols (AT03)

  • List of applicable specifications (AT04)

  • User defined

The Index can be placed within Sections/Volumes or at the end of the publication. A switch provides the selection between local collection of Index items and global. The full four levels of indexing are handled.

The List of Acronyms has a switch allows the production of the following lists based on the acronym type selected.

General Speed Improvements: A further speeding up of the application has been undertaken by removing more of the Book Material which is retained in Memory during the build process.

Information about obtaining this upgrade to Eclipse BookBuild Version 4 is available from Mekon Ltd.
