Summary

This car maker needs no introduction. Like all luxury brands, their ability to maintain quality and consistency is vital.
To help with this ongoing effort, they took on a Mekon Content Strategy Audit™ to address their issues of content reuse across glove-box manuals, and the redundant costs building up in translating and localising content for all their markets around the world.
Key Issues
- Localisation meant that even when manuals were in the same language, local laws and regulations had to be reflected in documentation
- Translation into over 15 languages including Traditional Chinese, Russian and Arabic meant that efficient processing was a must
- With only a small team to deliver top-quality output, resource efficiency was paramount
Solution Description
After the Mekon Content Strategy Audit (CSA), Mekon delivered a report recommending a move to a standards-compliant CCMS and automating publishing through Structured FrameMaker to reduce manual effort. The management took up these recommendations and re-engaged with Mekon for the project implementation.
Working with Ovidius, an established name in component content management, Mekon implemented TCToolbox and a customised version of XMetaL Author, delivering content through custom FrameMaker EDD templates. TCToolbox already had an out-of-box integration with Across, providing translation management features to hit the ROI targets that were expected by the project.
